Yes, I want to help!

Send your tax deductible contribution today, payable to Crane Mountain Valley Horse Rescue, Inc. to 7556 NYS Route 9N, Westport, NY  12993.  We no longer offer the option to contribute by credit card or through 'donate now' buttons because they charge as much as 15% in fees.  We work hard to maintain program efficiency so you can contribute with confidence knowing that 94 cents of every dollar goes directly to the care of the animals.

Every gift counts.  Every dollar matters.  Please give as generously as you can - today.

Please provide us with how you would like your name(s) to appear in our annual report.  If you prefer to remain anonymous, simply indicate so with your donation.

Ramsey Memorial Fund

This fund was established to honor Ramsey Richert, an appaloosa whose gentle disposition and kind spirit stole the hearts of everyone who met him.  Ramsey was a magnet and a mirror for goodness.  He drew in kids and adults alike, and with his warm and welcoming way, he taught each a little something about the power of kindness.  And he taught most kids in the North Country with a passion for horses how to ride.

Gifts to the Ramsey Memorial Fund continue Ramsey's legacy of kindness and allow his memory to live through the hearts and lives of the horses gifts to his fund help save.

Make a gift in honor or memory of someone

If you have someone in your life that has everything, or is hard to find a gift for, consider making a donation in their honor.  Provide us with their name and address when you make the gift, and we will send a letter to notify them of your kindness with a copy of our most recent newsletter.

If you have lost a loved one and would like their memory to live in the hearts of the horses and humans we help, please consider a memorial gift.  Provide us with how you would like us to remember them in our annual report.

How Your Tax-Deductible Contribution is Put to Work

If you knew you could save a horse, would you?  How about if you knew that by saving a horse you could also help children and adults, and those with special needs?

You can.  Here's how...

Our work is only possible because of the support of people just like you.  We are funded by tax-deductible contributions.  Our program is 100% volunteer.  We have no paid staff.  Administrative costs are less than 6% of our operations, which means 94 cents of every dollar goes directly to the care of the animals.

A gift of any amount makes a world of difference.  $25 covers the cost of one horse's hooves to be trimmed (done every 6 weeks).  $100 buys a one month supply of vitamin and mineral supplements.  $125 covers the cost of one horse's vaccinations (done annually).  $250 buys stall bedding for one month.  $600 buys a month's supply of grain.  $1,500 buys a month's supply of hay.  $2,500 sponsors one healthy horse for one year (good, basic horse care with no special needs).

Every horse coming into our program receives a full veterinary exam, including shots, dental exam, and in many cases, x-rays, when recommended by the veterinarian.  We immediately begin a regular schedule for deworming, hoof care, and dental work.  Initial costs for each horse average $500 per month for the first 3 months.   When you multiply this by 15-20, the average number of horses we have at any one time, it adds up exponentially.

We can only save these horses with your help.  We have the privilege of caring for them, but it is the kind hearts and generous spirits of people like you who make it possible.  You are the true heroes.

In addition to helping us help horses in need, your gift helps us provide education and outreach programs to the local community.  We host field trips for local schools and youth organizations to teach kindness and compassion.  We host internships and externships for high school and college students to earn course credits for the application to veterinary school.  We host girl-scouts, boy-scouts and 4-H groups to earn their badges in community service and horse care.  These programs are designed to educate children on the prevention of abuse and neglect, as education is the key to prevention.  These programs are offered as a community service, at no charge.

We welcome regular visits from the participants and leaders of Community Workshop, Inc., Essex Industries, and Mountain Lakes Services to build self-esteem in developmentally disabled adults.  We offer seminars, workshops and clinics to teach the language of the horse, and natural horsemanship principles for building a relationship between horse and human that becomes the basis for a partnership based on trust, respect and harmony.

Our ability to help these magnificent animals, and offer these programs to the local community, is only possible because of people like you.

"By saving one horse, we may not be changing the world.  But, we are changing the world for that one horse.”

Please help us change the world.
